Bouquet Breakdown No. 1

August 27, 2017

When I first started getting interested in working with flowers, I was overwhelmed by how much I did not know. I really had no idea where to begin. I would show up at the wholesale warehouse and just buy things so I could look at their names on the receipts. I wanted to learn more but didn't really know where to start. For my own wedding, I wanted to take a DIY approach just so I could learn more. Since then, I've spent endless hours googling and reading and practicing. There are a lot of good resources out there for novices to try things out. As a person who has taught myself a lot from the internet (for better and for worse) I want to help put more knowledge out there so that I might be able to help someone too someday, so this is my attempt at that! I am going to try to keep this series up as best I can, but here is a breakdown of my most recent Bouquet. (Original Photo by Anna Markley Photography)

Also, if you are interested my favorite floral resource as I started out was this book

Inspiration from the Interwebs: July

July 31, 2017

July, July, July: It's the summeriest of summer months in my opinion here in Ohio. The summer heat is in full swing, my garden is bursting with flowers and veggies and there are endless amounts of festivities to be had! This month has been so full of celebrations and outings it's been a little dizzying (in the best way!). I am ready for a few lazy summer days now and I hope you are too. Here's a list of some fun things that inspired me this month for your to check out on your next extended couch surf!

1. I wasn't a huge fan of drones, until this.

2. Probably the greatest use of balloons on the internet I have seen in awhile.

3. Oscar the Grouch is getting a renovation on the streets of NYC

4. Ohio, Ice Cream Capitol USA (plus, like the cutest illustration to match)

5. My current creative book obsession (more to come on this!)

Inspiration from the Interwebs May + June

June 29, 2017

Is there anyone who still subscribes to magazines but me? I can't help it, the 16 year old collages in me just can't let them go. I do read them and stuff, but I am really in it for the pictures. Remember those combo issues they send out once a year around this time? One magazine, Two months. I always wondered why that is, does everyone go on vacation in July or something?

Life has been a bit busy around here with trips and moving and unexpected events. There hasn't been much free time for me to spend over here on my little side project corner of the internet. I am working on being okay with that. So consider this your combo issue for the year of inspirations from the interwebs. Just like those magazines, I tried to give you a little something extra for the wait.

1. This incredible shoe hack (plus something else I can now do with flower scraps, YAY!)

2. The back of these heads are ridiculous. (Plus, you know you want to watch it now)

3. This beautiful illustration inspired by this incredible book.

4. This Rad Dessert Event that seems to be getting better with each addition!

5. Because even though it was last year, I am still dreaming of throwing a party like this. HMU if you're trying to do this.

6. Pretty much everything I love right here: Coconut, flowers and sugar.
